UNSUPPORTED SFP - PROBLEM

 UNSUPPORTED SFP 

 

Some time you will get the below issue when your SFP port will not come up and you are seeing the below then you can perfomr the below commands to active unsupported SFP

 

 

000119: .May 17 15:41:47.017 SAST: %MAINBOARD_SFP-3-NOT_IDENTIFIED: Unidentified transceiver module in GigabitEthernet0/1 port.

000125: .May 17 16:00:41.006 SAST: %MAINBOARD_SFP-3-NOT_IDENTIFIED: Unidentified transceiver module in GigabitEthernet0/1 port.

000129: .May 17 16:02:00.005 SAST: %MAINBOARD_SFP-3-NOT_IDENTIFIED: Unidentified transceiver module in GigabitEthernet0/1 port.

 

Router#   sh int gig0/1

GigabitEthernet0/1 is down, line protocol is down

  Hardware is CN Gigabit Ethernet, address is f872.eac3.7e21 (bia f872.eac3.7e21)

  Description: BT DEVICE - AAN-ZA-0001-RTR2 Gig 10/11

SOLUTION :

 

(config)#service internal
(config)#service unsupported-transceiver

 

Router#sh int gig0/1

GigabitEthernet0/1 is up, line protocol is up

  Hardware is CN Gigabit Ethernet, address is f872.eac3.7e21 (bia f872.eac3.7e21)

  Description: BT DEVICE - AAN-ZA-0001-RTR2 Gig 10/11

  Internet address is 10.248.54.2/28

In the course of providing support for a Cisco networking product Cisco may require that the end user install Cisco transceivers if Cisco determines that removing third-party parts will assist Cisco in diagnosing the cause of a support issue.
